Gay Travel Tips for the Holidays

So, some of us gays are traveling during the holidays to see our families. The lucky of us gays are traveling on our own for some hot times around the globe. Either way, we know that times for the queer community are a bit complicated so we wanted to put together some travel tips while you pack your bags and head out.

Prepare!

Just like you prepare for a night of bottoming, you should also spend some time preparing for your trip. It's not fun to be organized, but the more preparation you do before the more you can enjoy your actual time wherever you are traveling. Find out how gay-friendly your destination is, if you are traveling to a foreign country this is very important. Also, plan out your itinerary, what do you have to absolutely see? What are the famous parts to visit? What are the hotspots? Where are the gay clubs? Plan it all out before so you can just glide in.

Crossbody

Yes, no one likes to wear a fanny pack but a stylish crossbody is something else. Keep your valuable stuff like your passport, wallet, cash, etc close to your body. Put it all in a crossbody and keep the pouch in front of you. If someone wants to steal your stuff, they'll have to grab your junk first.

Drinks!

Just because you are used to roaming around Weho with your cocktail doesn't mean it's the same everywhere. Keep your eye on your drink and don't leave it alone even for a minute. Be wary of strangers who come up and chat you up big time and try to distract you. Also, we all like when a hot guy buys us a drink, but unless you see the bartender pour it, don't drink it!

Connect!

Find out where the local LGBTQ center is. Find out where the LGBTQ-friendly doctors are. Find out where the queer community has a safe space. If you get into trouble you can reach out and find a community that can help.

Wi-fi

We all want to stay connected and want to log on and stay connected. Be wary of connecting in public Wi-fi spaces, even hotel logins. Travelers are way too open to getting hacked while checking bank balances, getting on social media, and checking email. Hackers are everywhere.

Taxis

In the States we have Uber and Lyft, obviously. While these services exist in other places, taxis are still the go-to for getting around town. Taxi drivers in foreign countries are notorious for taking advantage of travelers by driving longer routes, changing fares mid-way, or trying to upsell you on an attraction. Know where you are going and don't act like a tourist.
