Should We Be Outing DL Gays for Trump?

This 2024 Election has just brought out the crazy in many of yes. Granted, it is understood given the levity of what can happen to our queer community. As voting day progressed, we got to see who was proud of voting for who. In the gay porn community, we were surprised to see industry veterans like Devin Franco and Arad Winwin proudly wave their support for Trump. Um, Project 2025 anyone? The adult industry has been specifically targeted by the conservative side. With adult website restrictions already in place in a number of states (Pornhub and even Fleshbot are not present in these states), it will be interesting to see just how farther restrictions on porn-related companies will go. Can you imagine if OnlyFans were shut down? Bye bye income! In the wake of the election results, many from the queer community have unfriended, unfollowed, and blocked others from our community and our ally community who voted red. Whether unjustified or not, it is their social media and they can do whatever they want with it. That's our perogative. Another trend that has emerged is the outing of DL guys and closeted guys who engage in same sex activity who voted for Trump. While the motivation is clear, should we be outing other guys?

Posts like this started to pop up on Election Day and have continued through the week.

The posts have been met with much support and others have shared screenshots of DMs from social media and apps like Grindr from DL guys who are still in the closet and some who are even married. For those of us who had a shaky coming out, the idea of being outed triggers a trauma response. Some of us gays had to suffer an outing by fellow classmates, past lovers, or even by our parents discovering our diary. The forced coming out of the closet can be extremely damaging. Everyone should be able to come out on their terms when they are emotionally and mentally able to handle declaring their orientation.

The other side of the coin is that should we be opening our holes to guys who clearly voted for Trump, regardless of the effect that it may have on the LGBTQ community? While our rights are being persectued, is it fair that they can take what they want from us and still live their lives, unencumbered by being targeted as queer? They will join us at the buffete table as long as they don't have to pay anything. It is clearly hypocritical, but does that mean we leave their lives in ruins by outing them? Won't our lives be in ruins with this election outcome? If we found out that a leading politician who introduces and endorses anti-LGBTQ legislation was gay, isn't our duty to make sure everyone knows? Are politicians different than "straight" DL guys looking for hookups on Grindr?

There is also the other side of it. Instead of outing other people, why don't we just refrain from comingling with DL guys. If they can't host, can't show us a pic of their face, or claim they are married or not out, then why don't we just block and move on? Don't give them any more attention, don't give them any of your body parts, and just move on. We have four years ahead where our relationship with the conservative side will be put into question. Going around outing people isn't going to help with that journey. Or does it a shed a light on the hypocrisy of the whole thing? What say you?
