For Gay Brunch, Gatorwine Is A Thing

We went to one of our gay's Sunday Funday weekly brunch. Along with the carbs (that none of the gays will eat in public), the champagne, and the gallons of vodka, there, prominently displayed were bottles of Gatorade and red wine to make your very own Gatorwine. WTF? As our host professed it was the latest craze, we had to run to Google to verify that yes, Gatorwine is a thing.

Gatorwine sounds like a dorm room drink when we used to mix vodka with Mountain Dew - hey, don't knock it till you've tried it. Making your own Gatorwine is easy. All you have to do is mix (now, this is very important) the blue Glacier Freeze (can't be any other flavor) Gatorade with cheap red wine. If your red wine bottle is priced over $10, it's not gonna work, we don't know why but it just won't. Mix the two together. Somehow, the berry flavoring of the Glacier Gatorade pairs perfectly with the notes of cheap red wine. It has to be a perfect 50/50 mix. You can serve it in a chilled glass or even pour it over ice. Sounds gross? The first few sips will taste...interesting. Then, all at once, it turns into a guilty pleasure and before you know it, you've downed more than a few glasses.

It has become a social media trend, with popular YouTubers and even high-end food critics trying it out. If you want to get super gay, add some diced fruit to the glass. The electrolytes from the Gatorade take away from the tannins from the red wine so it's a bit velvety and surprised you with the Caprisun type of taste. We want to put this in our lunchbox for work! Also splitting the Gatorade with wine means you are drinking less wine, so it's a good way to slow down your drinking if you are that gay that ends up legs up at the end of brunch. You would think because of the health benefits of Gatorade that drinking Gatorwine will negate a hangover, right? Not so. We polished off the bottle of red wine with endless empty bottles of Glacier Freeze so we still woke up the next day feeling, um, interesting. What's the best cure for a hangover? More Gatorwine!
