Drag Race's Gottmik Responds to Stolen, um, Borrowed Jokes

We all know that in the world of drag, jokes, lip-synch numbers, and even full looks can often be "borrowed" from queen to queen. Though it can be considered a bit of an homage, you need to give a queen credit where credit is due. Drag Race's Gottmik, the first trans man to compete on the series, is under some hot water for apparently stealing jokes from comedian Nikki Glaser's appearances at a couple of roasts. Gottmik is on the current season of All Stars and during the last episode, participated in the maxi-challenge, where Mama Ru instructed the queens to read each other to filth. Gottmik certainly read, right from a script. Fans were quick to point out how closely Gottmik's performance resembled that of Glaser.

Though Gottmik did adjust slightly to address her roast victims, there is no hiding that there are reused jokes.

“You guys, if you didn’t know, her resume is insane! Influencer, dancer, actor… you name it, she’s f**ked it,” - Gottmik 

“Her resume is insane. If you look at it, it’s just like: model, actor, singer… you name it, she’s f**ked it.” - Nikki Glaser

Did Gottmik not think anyone was going to notice? It today's day and age where everything is immortalized on social media and video, it was bound to come up. Fans really called him on it. Nikki has yet to comment, but Gottmik took to X to defend himself.

A fan came to his defense saying that there was no harm done and Gottmik didn't make millions from it and that Nikki would be ok. But that's not really the point, is it? A Drag Rae challenge is to show us the original skills and talent that a queen has to make them an All Star. Redoing done jokes really isn't that smart, especially for a roast special. And have any other queens in Drag Race history reused jokes? Now everyone will be under scrutiny.
