The Jockstrap Turns 150 with Broadway Bares Celebrating in Rhythmic Style

You've seen them in your porn; you've lusted after them in your gym locker room; and you've caught glimpses of them peaking out of men's shorts and jeans, and stretched across the crotches of leather chaps-wearing daddies for years now. Now that flimsy piece of cloth has reached a milestone. One of the most iconic men's fashion kinks, the jockstrap, turned 150 years old, so on May 1st in recognition of National Jockstrap Appreciation Day, BIKE Athletic celebrated with style, sponsoring a performance with a Broadway Bares burlesque show in Times Square. Broadway Bares is one of the fundraising events of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

BIKE Athletic has been at the forefront of men's undergarments for style, functionality, and comfort. The jockstrap itself was invented by C. F. Bennett in 1874 for the company that would become BIKE Athletic and has come a long way from those days of yore when they protected bike messenger's tender bits on those Boston cobblestone streets. Men, if you know, you know. Cut to 75 or so years later, and gay men lifted the jock to its icon status in "physique/muscle magazines," i.e. softcore gay porn with a wink and a nod.
