Queer Eye A Toxic Environment?

Gurrrllll! What the hell is happening over at Queer Eye? We had a feeling something was up when we reported that Bobby Berk was leaving the show and he had unfollowed his castmate Tan France on social media. Bobby then went on to tell Vanity Fair that he did indeed have a major rift with Tan, but that wasn't the reason why he left. Sure, girl! It was announced last week that interior designer Jeremiah Brent would be taking his place. Well, now...all the tea is spilled because Rolling Stone just came out with an article that TELLS ALL!

Apparently, ten people from the crew and other integral sources spilled the beans. According to the article, the stars were all fighting for the spotlight, and jealousy and egos got in the way. If you notice most of the cast members have all done their own projects, with no mention or involvement from their other cast members. Talk shows, podcasts, other reality shows, books, etc, have all been worked on individually.

Their sources also revealed that a lot of Bobby's screen time was cut from the Queer Eye, of course he'd want to leave and pursue his own endeavors! The term "boy band" was used many times in the article, comparing the group to random guys put together who ultimately end up bickering.

Another HUGE reveal was the apparent diva behavior presented by Jonathan Van Ness. Apparently, they are prone to fits of rage and yelling and have been talked to by the network, with no resulting change. Queer Eye turn to Queer Rage!

The show must go on! And they will begin production on the next season! Oh lordy! Maybe the gays will tune back in to see the drama unfold. Who knows? We haven't watched the show in a few seasons, it definitely lost that spark.

So, this whole situation is a mess for a few reasons. Yes, we gays love some drama, especially when it's behind-the-scenes drama on reality TV. Why do you think Bravo TV and Real Housewives have been around for a hundred years? We also can sense when a cast is too sweet, too insincere, too good to be true...we can smell fakes. The new cast of Queer Eye, though fun, always seemed a bit forced to us. Just because it's a gay show doesn't mean that we should just let it get away with being fake, or that we can't put it up to the same scrutiny or shade we put other shows in. BUT, the show is different, or it's supposed to be. It's supposed to bring a positive message to mainstream audiences and build that gap between the gays and the normies, so should we leave it alone just because it's doing good out in the world, we need a good image out there to fight all the negativity from the politics towards our community? Hmmm...that's a tough one.

What say you on the Queer Eye debacle?
