Ryan Murphy Brings More Monster

Ryan Muphy's first Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story became Netflix's number one streamed series ever. While some thought it controversial to have such success telling the story at the sake of the victims and almost glamorizing the serial killer, it was well told and packed some acting punches from Ewan Peters and Niecy Nash. Actor Chloe Sevigny posted a very early teaser trailer for the second helping of Monster, this time telling the story of parent-killing brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez. Chloe will co-star with Javier Bardem. Wowzersss...

Hottie Jonathan Bailey Wins the Critics Choice Award

One of our fave, openly gay actors, Jonathan Bailey won the Critics Choice Awards in a well-deserved win for his performance in the Showtime series Fellow Travelers. Not only did he show a lot of skin, but he showed his full range of acting chops. He gave a shout-out to the creatives behind the series, his co-star Matt Bomer, and dedicated the award towards those who lost their lives to the AIDS epidemic: “To all the people who lost their lives in the 80s and 90s, and to every LGBTQ+ person living in a bigoted community, which still surround us, this is for you.”

Thank MLK for Star Trek's Gay Icon Uhura

Today on MLK day, gay Star Trek fans remember his part in encouraging Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Uhura to remain part of the show, who would become a gay and fashion icon for her role. She wanted to leave the role due to lack of screen time and substantial scripts. Martin Luther King, Jr. told her it was imperative for her to remain on the show, as her visibility as a leading crew member was monumental. Whoopi Goldberg would later give credit to Nichols for inspiring her to be an actor, astronaut (and lesbian) Sally Ride would also credit Nichols for being the inspiration of her career. Live long and prosper, Nichelle!

Broadway's Shucked Headed to the Big Screen

Musical theatre nerds rejoice! The Broadway musical Shucked, which just played its closing performance, will be getting a film adaptation from Mandalay Pictures. The screenplay will be written by the show's book writer, Robert Horn. It was already announced that a North American tour will commence this year, with London and Australian versions on the way as well. No casting has been announced, but they would be hard pressed to find someone better than show star Alex Newell.

Ireland Just Got a Bit Gayer

In a social media post, Irish cabinet minister Jack Chambers came out publicly. He commented on the strides Ireland has made toward the equality of the LGBTQ community. The country ranks 29th globally for LGBTQ rights.
