10 TV Shows Gays Are Excited For in 2024

POP CULTURE

Gay Pop Culture News

The new year means new TV coming to our screens — and this is real prestige gay TV, not just Housewives or Drag Race. This is the TV that is going to win awards or at least be meme'd and GIF'd by our favorite pop culture accounts and texted about with your gay brunch crew. Let's dive right in:

The Swans

Kicking off this list with possibly the most exciting show of 2024, FX's The Swans. Ryan Murphy returns to TV with a big, glamourous dramatization of the bestselling book Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era. Throughout eight episodes, we will get all the drama of Truman Capote (played by Tom Hollander) and his vicious society ladies including Babe Paley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), fashion icon C. Z. Guest (Chloe Sevigny) and Jackie O's little sister Lee Radziwill (Demi Moore). The clothes, the drama, the hair: this is going to be truly epic television.

Traitors Season 2

This crazy, addictive reality show is back for a second season. The premise is a bunch of celebs and a select group of non-celebs are in a Scottish castle trying to win big money while also trying to figure out who amongst the group is a traitor, hell-bent on the larger group's failure. It's so good, trust! This season, we get Drag Race alumni Peppermint and Real Housewives icons Phaedra Parks, Larsa Pippen, Tamra Judge, and Sheree Whitfield.

Vanderpump Rules

After the explosive 10th season filled with all the #Scandoval drama, Bravo's Emmy-nominated reality series Vanderpump Rules returns with all the fallout. How will this group survive? How will they come back together? Who will betray each other next? As far as reality shows go, this one about servers and bartenders in West Hollywood always truly delivers.

True Detective

The award-winning crime show True Detective returns to HBO this month with an all-new season, and the reason the gays need to perk up their ears is because Oscar-winning lesbian icon Jodi Foster is one of our detectives this season! True Detective: Night Country is set in the frozen Alaskan tundra with pro boxer Kali Reis joining Foster as her former partner cop.

AHS: Delicate P2

Because of the writer and actors' strike, the latest season of American Horror Story was cut short. It just ended midway through with the second part to be broadcast at some point this year. At first, this season was a big eye roll but then Kim K and Emma Roberts and co. sold the hell out of this Rosemary's Baby remake and I want to see how it all ends.

The Golden Bachelor Wedding

One of our favorite reality moments of 2023 was The Golden Bachelor. Watching seniors have a second chance at love was so much more entertaining than a bunch of 20-something influencers using it as a platform for fame! This year, we get The Golden Bachelor wedding and we can't wait to see these two sweet older people tie the knot.

Bridgerton

Shonda Rhimes sexy, popular costume drama returns in May with an all-new season where our own dear Lady Whistledown finds love. Like The Crown, the third season of Bridgerton arrives in two parts. Tune in as fans the world over wait to see if Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her friend Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) finally find love together.

Death and Other Details

The new Hulu series Death and Other Details is definitely going to give us the fix we miss since White Lotus is on hiatus. According to Hulu, "Set amidst the glamor of the global elite, Death and Other Details centers on the brilliant and restless Imogene, who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time (okay, it was kinda her fault) and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery." We're in.

The Regime

Phrases like queen and mother get thrown around a lot but when talking about the icon that is Kate Winslet, all of them are true. Queen Kate returns to our TV in March starring in a new HBO series about a modern European authoritarian regime who watches her power crumble over the course of 12 months.

Noah's Arc

The long-awaited Noah's Arc reboot was supposed to debut in 2023 but it never arrived! WTF?! Hopefully this year, we get Noah and his group of gay friends back on our screens, because believe it or not, this is the only show about gay Black men, their friendships, and their relationships and that representation really matters!

And for something different, hit the banner to enjoy the fine entertainment over at ASGmax’s Active Duty.
