There's a new gay TV show coming your way in the new year and it has us very excited and intrigued. The indie Queer comedy Open To It has found a home on OUTtv. The comedy follows one gay couple as they open up their monogamous relationship to sex and love with others. Yes, more polyamory on TV in 2024, please!
It sounds like Open To It is going to fill the hole in our hearts left by ending of beloved Netflix series EastSiders. Like the popular gay series EastSiders, Open To It began as a popular online series before making the leap to a full series order. And like EastSiders, the show offers an intimate and funny look at a gay couple’s attempts to open up their relationship up to others and the drama that comes with being in a throuple or just having casual sex with guys who are not your partner. Then finally, like EastSiders, the creator is also the star of the show. Open To It stars writer-creator Frank Arthur Smith as Greg and cutie Tim Wardell as Cam.
“Polyamory and openness are often portrayed as this heavy, apocalyptic antithesis to healthy romantic relationships,” Smith said. “I wanted to expose (teehee) the sexiness and silliness behind ethical non-monogamy.”
Open To It is one of those rare gay indie comedies that's actually well-received by critics and audiences alike It's already picked up awards for Best Comedy Short at Boston’s Wicked Queer Fest and the festival favorite award at Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Festival. In addition to Smith and Wardell, the series will feature Drag Race royalty Manila Luzon, Honey Davenport, Pandora Boxx, and Laganja Estranja — sickening, no?
And because you'll definitely want to know after watching the trailer, the hot twink who comes into their relationship is actor Jason Caceres, who previously appeared Boy Culture, Insatiable, and Sex Sent Me to the ER. After seeing him in this trailer, I am interested in how sex sent him to the ER and if he would be open to trying whatever it was again.
