NBA Icon Charles Barkley Declares His Support of LGBTQ+ People In Fiery Curse-Laden Speech

In 2023 it's a better time to be Queer in sports than ever before. Athlete, after athlete, after athlete, after athlete(s) have come out, and hell they even made a musical about gay college jocks in love. And now, the LGBTQ+ community has another athlete on our side, even if he's not playing for our team: Charles Barkley.

Barkley was in Lake Tahoe, CA playing in a celebrity golf outing when he took a moment at the mic to not only come out in support of Queer people everywhere, but also told the fans who were there to drink Bud Light. Well, what he actually said was, "Drink this. I want y'all to drink this fucking beer." Oh but he didn't stop there. "I want y'all to drink this fucking beer." he repeated. "I got three cases of Bud Light, and hey, I want to say this: If you’re gay, bless you. If you’re transgender, bless you. And you have a problem with that... fuck you!"

But if the simple declaration of support wasn't amazing enough on it's own, Barkley also went for the jugular of all the transphobes protesting Bud Light because of Dylan Mulvaney. "All you rednecks or assholes who don’t want to drink Bud Light... fuck y’all!" He also made it clear that he's not afraid of anyone cancelling him because of his allyship or statements. "Hey, I ain’t worried about getting canceled because lemme tell you something... if y’all fire me and gimme all that money, I’m gonna be playing golf every fucking day." In other clips, the Hall of Famer offered to buy people at the bar Bud Light.

This isn't the first time Barkley has been a vocal supporter and ally to the LGBTQ+ community. Last year at the American Century Championship he took to the mic to declare his love of Queer people, saying, "If you're gay or transgendered, I love you. Hey... and if anybody gives you sh*t, you tell them Charles said, 'Fuck you!'"

We need more vocal allies like Charles Barkley to speak out. He's an absolute badass, and in the straight-dominated world of professional sports, Hall of Famers like him speaking out so vocally is a major push in the rights direction. Barkley makes an obscene amount of money every year as one of the biggest voices and faces in the world of sports (as well as sports history). There's a reason they call him Sir Charles... because he's sports royalty. And on behalf of Queens everywhere: we love you, too, Sir Charles.
