Where Are They Now: Colton Ford Talks About His Music

There are a small handful of porn stars who have found success in both adult and "mainstream" entertainment. It's an even smaller group who have maintained their success for many years. One such performer is the great Colton Ford. Colton's brief, but memorable days in gay porn are still well-remembered by fans. He has also continued a successful career in music for decades! His latest single, the super sexy song "Handle It," shows that this great performer is showing no signs of stopping and his Only Fans account is giving fans hope that a return to porn may be in his future as well.

He joined us for an interview to update us on his music and his manhood.

Tell us about this latest single that you have out now. What is this song about? How does this song connect with your previous music? How is it different?

"Handle It" is about hooking up. Don't know the person or whether they can handle my goods, but they can have it and give it a try! It's sexy, cheeky and playful. There is a thread of R&B in what I've done, and this follows in that spirit. It's the ooey gooey R&B that I love. I don't know that it differs in any way, just more straight-out R&B I guess.

What kind of musician is Colton Ford? Could you tell us about your love of music? What does it mean to you?

I am a singer/songwriter. My creative partners, Spin Sista and the Real RJS (Woop Woop Productions), write the tracks that I then write the melody and lyrics to (the topline). I think I was born singing. It's my passion and it's one of the things that has been a constant in my life—something that is always there for me. It's the way that I like to creatively communicate, and always brings me joy.

Are you still in touch with any part of the adult industry? Following it?

Yes. My ex, Blake Harper, and I are still very close. Also, I keep in touch with Chi Chi and several others from that time. And I know a bunch about it now. I don't necessarily follow it, but I'm still connected to it of course.

What do you think of this new trend in the industry of slightly older (40+), but still super hot men (DILFs!) who are kind of all the rage right now? Dallas Steele, Drew Sebastian, Tomas Brand, etc.

Well, those are some of the new friends I have that I just came into contact with when I moved to Palm Springs. Drew Sebastian is in my video for "Handle It." I think it's great that we're seeing more age diversity in the adult world. It's a new day folks, and aging looks different in the 21st Century. There are more of us that are staying in shape as we enter our 50s, 60s, and 70s. $hit doesn't stop just because you're getting older, you just gotta keep on with it!

Have you considered returning to the adult film industry?

I've put my toes back in through my OnlyFans page, which has now been suspended for some violations that I don't have time for. Thinking about just moving over to Just4Fans—way more user-friendly. I'm an exhibitionist and have used that and been provocative throughout my career. Just trying to do it a little differently. Like I'm letting you into my private experiences. Feels more organic to me.

You have been a successful performer in both the music and gay entertainment industries for a considerable time now. What do you think is the secret to your longevity? How have you maintained your voice, (and your body!), so well for all these years?

Well firstly, thank you! I don't know that there is a secret to longevity. One thing for sure, you've got to stay at it and current. The only other thing that I can add is that I've stayed true to myself, both as a person and an artist. I think people can feel that and perhaps are more able to stay connected to me because of it.

I am so grateful to be singing the way that I am at almost 61. I think a number of factors play into it, including biology, as our voices change and as we mature. I've found my voice throughout the aging process, and continue to adapt to it as I go. Vocalizing on a regular basis and staying youthful in my spirit as an artist and creator has also played an important part. My body is something I've consistently trained throughout the years. I've downsized as I've gotten older and have adjusted my workouts accordingly, but again I've always stayed consistent. It makes a huge difference. I've been able to maintain good muscle density and my overall level of fitness because of it.
