Go-Go Boy Spotlight: Danny J chats about fav films, J-Lo, and Go-Go advice!

Our Go-Go for this Bear Month is Danny J! Ambassador to Bearworld Magazine and Bearskn.com. Snagging Mr. Fire Island Bear 2017 and Mr. New York Unlimited Bear 2018, Danny J has enjoyed NY, married life, and the opportunity to go-go all over. Check out our interview below!

How you got your name:

Danny was always my nickname. But it wasn’t until a few months into go-go dancing that my drag friend Viva Vidalia called me “Danny J.” Since my last name starts with a J and I said, “that’s it, I’ll keep my name!”

When you started go-go dancing and what got you into it:

I started it in 2016; I had always wanted to do it. Being a fan of movies like Flashdance and Showgirls, I felt I had the moves to do the same but didn’t think there was a place for me on the scene. It wasn’t until I found Beef Bearrito’s Tumblr page and saw go-go boy Punki here in NYC that I realized there was a place for me!

Favorite styles of music and artists to dance to:

I am OBSESSED with circuit music. I really let loose to it. And as for the artist, I’m a JLover, a HUGE Jlo fan. She’s inspired me to be the entertainer I am today.

Venues & parties you dance at:

I’ve danced at many places. From Rockbar, Tys, The Eagle NYC, Fire Island Bear Weekend, Precinct in LA, Providence Eagle, Georgie’s in Asbury Park, Cannonball in Fort Lauderdale, Key West Bear Weekend, and a few other places & states in between lol THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST!

Favorite thing to wear while dancing:

99% of the time, I’m sporting custom designs by my designer and best friend, Kstraps. We brainstorm designs, and he makes my harnesses, jocks, armbands, and hankies. But I also love wearing my leather harnesses. It’s all mix-and-match for the most part.

Favorite part of your body:

I’d have to say my eyes. They’ve brought me so much attention throughout my life, lol.

Your signature dance move:

Definitely my bulge bounce. Or my ass jiggle. People ask me to do that a lot for them.

Have you ever hooked up with a club patron?

No. I’m usually exhausted after a gig. I just want a burger and my bed, lol!

Have you ever hooked up with another dancer?

I’ve made out with other go-go dancers. But I’ve only hooked up once before a show with a burlesque performer. That was a pretty hot and unexpected surprise.

Biggest pet peeve when people are tipping you:

I’m pretty good with patrons. The only thing I don’t like is when people think it’s ok to pinch and pull my nipples. They’re small enough as it is! Lol

Biggest pet peeve about working with other go-go boys:

I actually have two. One is when they just disappear in the middle of a 15-20 min set and they’ve only done 5 min. My other peeve is seeing a dancer with a drink in hand. It’s incredibly unprofessional. We got hired to dance, not get drunk. But that’s my opinion.

What advice would you give to a new go-go dancer?

NO DRINK IN HAND ON THE BOX! Haha, all jokes aside, I tell new gogos to have fun, seduce with your stare, practice your balance, and stay humble.

Favorite thing about being a go-go boy:

I love the attention; I’m a Scorpio, of course, I do! But the thing I love the most is inspiring guys like me the way I was inspired. I get messages weekly from followers and guys who have felt represented by seeing me being on that box unapologetically.

What do you like to do when you’re not go-go dancing?

I love to eat! Lol, I love spending time with my husband, traveling, playing video games, and going to amusement parks and beaches. I guess regular stuff.

What do you love about the city you live in?

I love the diversity and the opportunities that are available in NYC. You sometimes have to search for what you want. But I do not doubt that you’ll find it.
