Edward Terrant Talks Going from Porn Star to Set Designer

Last month, I found myself sitting naked around the fireplace participating in an occult ritual in the German countryside. I know, snooze-fest, right? Not this time. Our coven of sexies was led by the one true supreme, Edward Terrant. Over four days of shooting, I had the delight of becoming friends with this Canadian cutie. The Cybersocket Award nominee is truly a dream to work with and knows how to tell a story or two. This man of many talents is just as busy off camera as he is on it, designing and creating porn sets for some of the industry’s top studios. Of course, I had questions, and Edward had answers for them…

How did you find yourself designing porn sets?

I had been a model for them already, and the position opened up. I used to work in construction designing and constructing houses, so the owner of No Monkeys approached me about the job, so I began building sets, which turned into much more.

What has been the most challenging set for you to design?

I had to build an MRI machine for a hospital scene. I built the entire thing from styrofoam and it looked pretty real. It worked, for the scene that is. It took me about three weeks. It was definitely a challenge. I do a lot with a little!

What is your favorite aspect of the job?

Buying things with other people’s money! No, I’m just teasing. I like the opportunity to get to spend more time with the other models on set. I usually am there for the days of production. We really have a great group of guys, and they all have their own stories.

Who is one of your favorite models to work with?

I work with Malik the most, he’s great. He’s also the face of the website.

What do you enjoy more, designing sets or performing?

That depends on the production. For Men.com, designing the sets. They tend to do a lot of satirical scripts and I always end up laughing on set. It’s hard to say though. I like both so much for different reasons.

What has been your favorite set to work on in front of the camera?

Probably the last one I did with Davey (Himeros.TV) in Minnesota. We were on location like we always are with Himeros, but we were just in a big cabin-type house on a lake. There was one of those… Do you know those giant colorful parachutes that you used to play with back in the day? We did a scene with one of those. It was such a fun day. We were all throwing the parachute up and laughing and running around. After the scene was finished, everyone stayed outside and continued playing with the parachute for at least another hour. That was probably the most legitimate fun I’ve ever had on a set.

What’s your favorite studio that you’ve worked with?

MenAtPlay. I like the suit fetish, which is the entire aesthetic of the site. I like the aspect of sex while clothes are still partially on, I guess. It’s very sexy to me.
