I’m angry. I’m angry at the republican agenda again because they’re up to the same old shit. We shouldn’t be surprised because throughout our gay lives their delivery has been the same issue to issue when it comes to using hate as the driving force for their platforms.

First, it was on the gays, in general, themselves, "dangerous" they called us, "abominations" they said, "perverts and pedophiles", they said. They used this platform against gay marriage when gays were becoming more normal, then they used this platform when trying to demonize trans people, and now who’s next? Sure, let's use it on the drag queens, literally the most harmless people in our community… Unless they read you. Then they’re pretty fierce.

The only difference now, when you factor in the mental decline in the United States, especially after the Trump presidency, is the gun threats. While I understand that these aren’t new they are getting more probable. This recent hate campaign against them utilizes the same old schtick, the problem is safety. While talking to a few of my personal training clients who used to frequent Hamburger Mary’s in WeHo with their kids they happened to tell me one day so nonchalantly that children aren’t allowed there anymore. Not because of the atmosphere, but because the bar staff kept getting so many calls from hate groups that they were being targeted for mass shootings daily.

I don’t know about you but when I heard that I begged the question, how often did this have to happen to ban children out of safety concerns? Even worse, what about everywhere else? That can’t be the only bar in WeHo suffering the barrage of hate.

With the current regime, how many more Pulse Nightclubs are there going to be?

I’m going on 40 and let me tell ya, I’m sick of this. Do we have to do a gay lives matter also? Perhaps a version of the Black Panthers even? Is the new HIV crisis white republicans with guns? Because they're a disease and this country needs a bottle of pills to get rid of them. There is a growing climate that white Christian republicans can literally get away with murder. Sure the gunmen may be caught and sometimes killed, always “prosecuted.” But at what cost? Gay people are starting to lose their lives and livelihoods over this and I’m getting sick of fighting this with love, prayers, and politics. We can’t replace these loved ones. When they’re gone they’re gone. We don’t know when they will strike and the next victim could literally be any of these readers or someone they know.

We lose people left and right every day and with the current politics nobody is calling anyone out. The extreme right should’ve been classified as a dangerous terrorist group a long time ago, and what has happened? They are right there making laws AGAINST US! There is starting to be blood on the hands of these people who are complicit to the violence going on in this country towards any minority group. If nobody is on our side enough to stop the madness then what choice do we have to stop fighting with love and politics and fight fire with fire?

I still remember being 17 and sitting at my grandmother's house and my dad was across the table saying how the lowlifes he watches in the prison he was a guard at would never be satisfied with the current racial divide. Referring to black people he said, “They don’t just want equality, they want revenge.” Then he shook his head and he said, “Well maybe we should just go toe to toe with them.

“Let’s just finish this now,” he said.

Plain as day, as disgusting as it was, that's what he said. My own family, disowned by me by the way, had to say because everyone in that room but me agreed! That was what the opposing side had to say essentially and trust me when he spoke that he did speak for all of them.

It did not matter if they were gay or black or whatever. That's where their little hateful minds are at, and these minds are closed minds. They have been groomed that way and they will groom their offspring that way also.

I’m getting sick of this. I am 40, and the hatred for us has not changed in this country in 40 years. If it's not us being pedophiles, it’s the transsexuals, if it's not them, it's the drag queens, or whatever other societal frontier we decide to embark on next because we are the cultural trendsetters, and whatever we come up with they will always find as the new reason to hate us. They will continue to breed people who hate us. That is how their regime is constructed.

Frankly I am angry… and I’ve had enough, and clearly… I’m not alone.
