Whether you’re ready for it or not, the New Year is right around the glory hole. 2022 was… well, it happened. With 2023 upon us, It is time again to reassess who we are and who we would like to be. While we may not be able to change the world, we do have the power to change ourselves. This New Year, let’s make some resolutions that will make us happier and healthier.
DO SOMETHING NEW. Your safe space will always be there for you to return to and leaving it is okay. Do more things that are out of your comfort zone. Who knows? You might just learn new things about yourself. From kickboxing to cuckolding, the options are endless. Perhaps check out your local nude yoga. If you are in the LA area, I recommend Naked Warrior Yoga. It’s a flexy sexy good time and their instructors put the "hot" in "hot yoga."
RESET. Too much socializing can be an emotional drain, and that is okay to accept. Take the necessary time to yourself to check in on your well-being and inner peace. Taking a night on your own is one of the best gifts to give yourself. Make yourself your favorite guilty pleasure for dinner. Watch a movie you have seen a hundred times already and still love. Fuck yourself with your favorite toy for an extended self-play session. Do whatever the fuck you want, no one is watching (unless you’re on Chaturbate). You won’t miss out by taking a night to yourself every once in a while, I promise. The orgies and happy hours are not going anywhere.
DON’T BE A SCROLL TROLL. Be present for f*** sake. Set your godd*m phone down and enjoy real life more. I’m not saying that you need to delete Scruff and Grindr or put your social media accounts to rest, that would just be insane. What I am saying is that if you drastically reduce the time spend scrolling through memes and headless torsos, you’ll have more time for exercise, cooking, cruising, choose your own adventure. Break the habit of opening your phone when your hands are idle. If it helps, keep your hands busy with, well, other things. Everyone at your gym will thank you.
SWITCH IT UP. I am sure many of you tend to fall into a routine at the gym and go on autopilot after a while. Change up your routine, and focus on things that you may have neglected over time. Check in on your breathing while you're at the gym. Prioritize your posture while doing your sets. If you need some inspiration, try out a class. I personally have an aversion to group fitness classes, but every few weeks I sign up for one to discover new things that I can incorporate into my own workouts.
READ A F***ING BOOK. My gay grandpa always told me that if you go to someone's place to hook up and you don’t see a book anywhere, leave. For years I considered myself to be a slow reader. Then I discovered how many people simply do not read. Ever. Find a book that piques your interest and check it out. If you don’t like it after a while, that is okay. There are a million books out there (graphic novels included). This past year I read BATH HAUS by queer author P.J. Vernon. If you like anon hookups, infidelity, and autoerotic play gone terribly awry, this book is for you.
2022 is dead to us. Let's load up 2023 with as much energy and growth that we can. And of course, lots of sex. My gay grandpa also always told me that the one thing you'll never regret when you are older is having too much sex.
