I famously graduated with a bachelor's degree in Clickbait from Fake Two Week Journalism School In A Former Circuit City, so hopefully I was able to get most of you to click on this post. Or else those two installments of $40 were for nothing. We got some news to get to. Some big news: A celebrity who underwent a cosmetic procedure has admitted to undergoing a cosmetic procedure. Your mind right now:
I swear I'm not being sarcastic. This just isn't done! Super sexy openly gay star Cheyenne Jackson took to Instagram to share a picture of his hair transplant scar, along with a lengthy comment letting us know that he had five procedures starting at the age of twenty-two - when he first noticed his thinning hair. The forty-four-year-old Jackson opens up about his insecurities and conflicting feelings about fueling unrealistic beauty standards while keeping his operations on the down-low:
It was really emotional for me to watch it fall out & I felt less attractive & truly less like myself as the days went on, so I saved up and got my first surgery at 28.
Why did I care so much? What does that say about me? Being a vain actor in an industry that rewards beauty, I vowed to keep this my secret forever. I feel SO stupid saying that but it’s my truth.
This might genuinely come as a shock to some people, but the majority of men in Hollywood over forty with the hairlines of 14-year-old TikTok stars have had work done. It's the exception - not the rule - that a man's hairline remains unaltered as the rest of his body changes over time.
But I think Cheyenne is getting at something even bigger than hair plugs. If something that big even exists. He's blowing the whole damn lid off of unrealistic beauty standards in Hollywood. I genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, don't care about much in this world, but it does kinda piss me off when celebs who refuse to admit to getting work done champion body acceptance.
Cosmetic work is understandably a huge part of an industry that focuses on looks, yet it's not talked about, leaving a gap between reality (most celebs get work done) vs. perceived reality (dey woke up like dis) that can't be great for the self-esteem of the average Joe.
Some people are criticizing Cheyenne's heartfelt admission as frivolous when contrasted with the dire state of the world right now, but sitting on a secret can really fuck a person up emotionally, and I'm sure this was more difficult for Cheyenne than many of us can imagine. Cheyenne looks great with hair, I'm sure he'd look great without it, but I think we can all agree that he looks best....... NEKKED.
Hey, this is Fleshbot not Jezebel.
