Armie Hammer Says A ‘Call Me By Your Name’ Sequel Will Definitely Happen

CELEBRITY

In a short, impromptu interview with Variety at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, Armie Hammer shared that a sequel to his 2017 film Call Me By Your Name is in the works.

:It will happen because there are already people working on it and trying to make it happen," said the 32-year old heartthrob. He also said that other than the little amount of detail he gave, there's not much else he can say about the upcoming project - yet.

"How much do I know and how much could I tell you are two very different things," he said. "More than anything I trust the artistic direction to Luca and [novelist] André Aciman and to those guys who did such a good job handling it the first time around... I know a lot, but I can’t tell you anything."

Armie's tiny, yet significant share of information about CMBYN comes months after director Luca Guadagnino hinted at the possibility of a sequel, and what it could entail, at the beginning of the year. According to Guadagnino, the follow-up would show how Elio deals with the AIDS crisis of the 1980s.

"I think Elio [Timothee Chalamet] will be a cinephile, and I'd like him to be in a movie theater watching Paul Vecchiali's Once More. That could be the first scene [in the sequel]," he said.

With Armie's latest announcement that something is for sure in the works, I can only imagine that many from the 2017 film's team are back in the writing room to iron out the details. Only time will tell if this is something that will actually come to fruition or not.

Until then, we'll just have to keep watching the original on repeat.
