TV’s Most Influential Gay Male Sex Scenes

Readers of a certain age (and we're not putting ourselves in that category, mind you, we've just heard) will remember the controversy surrounding the echt-80s dramedy "thirtysomething" when two supporting male characters were shown during an intimate postcoital cuddle, although apparently a kiss that was supposed to be a part of the scene was edited from the episode when it was broadcast. Nearly twenty years after the scene that cost ABC millions of dollars in lost ad revenue, AfterElton takes a look at the ten most influential gay sex scenes on television since then in a list that includes memorable moments from shows like "Queer As Folk" and "Noah's Ark" and ... uh, more scenes from "Queer As Folk" and "Noah's Ark". Not to discount the importance of those series, of course, but it's interesting that the pickings are so slim—and that of the ten scenes listed, seven are from shows on premium cable rather than network TV. Guess it just goes to show that as far as we've all come since 1989, in some ways we really haven't come very far at all.
