Reid Ewing Talks Body Dysmorphia UPDATE: Comes Out as Gay

In an open essay on the Huffington Post the hot guy who dates Hayley (Sarah Hyland) on Modern Family (not Adam DeVine's character, but the other guy, the really dumb one), Reid Ewing, talked about his battle with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. While a disproportionate amount of body dysmorphic cases happen in the gay community sexy straight guys are not immune, and Reid underwent multiple cosmetic surgery procedures during his late teens and early 20's. In the heartbreaking essay Reid talks about the crippling dissatisfaction he had with his face early on in life and the series of painful surgeries he underwent in order to fix what was never broken. Ewing sought out back alley scum whore doctors who would tell Chris Hemsworth that he looked a pile of garbage if it meant getting some $$$. Reid writes of his first procedure, which was for cheek implants: Via HuffPo

I woke up screaming my head off from pain, with tears streaming down my face. The doctor kept telling me to calm down, but I couldn't. I couldn't do anything but scream, while he and his staff tried seemingly to hold back their laughter.

After weeks of having to hide out while wearing a mask Ewing writes:

After all the swelling finally went down, the results were horrendous. The lower half of my cheeks were as hollow as a corpse's, which, I know, is the opposite of what you'd expect, as they are called cheek implants. They would be more aptly called cheekbone implants.

It's hard to imagine the horror of getting butchered by a doctor, especially at such a young age. Shorty after his first procedure Reid went to an even less qualified plastic surgeon. This doc was like "YOU need a chin implant. It's going to be so clutch," thus cementing his place in whatever circle of hell it is where you have to watch Jennifer Lopez host the AMA's over and over again!:

I asked if it would repair my sunken-in face, and he said I would be so happy with my looks it wouldn't matter to me. The same day he brought me into his back office and operated on me. Like before, I went into hiding post-surgery. Only a few days passed when I noticed I could move the chin implant under my skin, easily moving it from one side of my face to another.

After a corrective surgery for his movable chin Reid had a couple of other smaller procedures done to his face, some while filming Modern Family. Reid Ewing wraps up his essay with an important message about the seriousness of body dysmorphia and the urgency of seeking professional help for the disorder, which is often associated with depression and anxiety. Thankfully at 26 the stud is feeling good, and has called it quits on the nipping and tucking.

Since Reid still looks damn fine (I hope that even though Hayley dumped him AGAIN on Modern Family that his character will continue to be a semi-regular), and since although incredibly sad his story ends better than it could have, I don't feel like it's entirely inappropriate to put up these sexy naked pics of Ewing's ass and bush in 10 Rules for Sleeping Around (2013). WHAT!

UPDATE: Reid Ewing Comes Out on Twitter

Well, as soon as I pushed to publish button the internet is noticing that Reid Ewing outed himself on his Twitter a couple days ago. Actually, he says he was never in, but it seems that the rest of the world wasn't in on this news that he is gay.
