New Year's Resolutions for the Gays! Chad Speaks

New Year, new you? New Year, same bitch here. LOL. Heading into 2o25 gives us the opportunity to start fresh, click reboot on ourselves, and after the year we've had, we need to shake it off and change things up. Many of us gays will have fitness and diet at the top of our New Year's resolution list, some of us will be deleting the hookup apps, and others will be focusing on careers. I'm gonna share some of the top resolutions for the gays that I've been hearing but, above all, just be easy on yourself this year. We don't know what's ahead, we survived a lot this year, so just do you and be proud. Gawd, that's so schmaltzy but true! Do you, boo!

Circle of Friends

Take this New Year and take the opportunity to look at your circle of friends. We are going to all need each other this coming year and it just makes sense to build your army around you with friends that matter. As we become adults, we know that real friends are more than the guys we get drunk or party with. During the year, some of us have gotten so busy we've dropped certain people, have stopped making coffee or hangout dates because of life. This year, take some time out and reconnect with friends and family that matter. Cut out negative friends or friends that insist on being bad influences. Be mindful of connecting with new, quality gays.

Sunday Funday

Not all resolutions need to be a cut back, or something serious. This coming year, you also need to build in some play time in your schedule and stick to it. Career, finances, relationships, politics, and more will all take focus and hard work in 2025, carve out some time to play and enjoy life. Stick to your Sunday Funday plans, stick to your vacation, stick to your shopping sprees, and don't forget to smile and laugh. This is our favorite resolution. As with all things, in moderation (did I just say that???) so it doesn't intrude on your other resolutions.

FitnASS

Lol, yes, we are told by social media, nights out, and by Jonathan Bailey that the gays need to be smoking hot with muscles bulging. Fitness is a very important part of life for the physical and mental health benefits. Here's the thing, if you are making fitness part of your New Year's resolution, calm your tits about it. Pace yourself and do it not just to compete with that Andrew Christian model, but to do it for yourself. Do it to the point you feel healthy, don't do it to the point it becomes an addiction or takes joy away from other aspects of your life. We aren't all going to be muscle gods, and that's ok. Just be healthy.

Brain Health!

It really doesn't matter how much effort you put into your body if you aren't going to take care of your mental health. As a community, we have finally started talking openly about our feelings and the triggers that make us go a bit crazy. Some of us are opening up and taking care of our sobriety, some of us are going to therapy, and others are adding meditation and mental health exercises to our daily schedule. DO IT. Make this part of your New Year's resolution to take care of your brain, your thoughts, your mental needs. Might not be the sexiest resolution, but it is much needed.

Sexy Time

This New Year's resolution goes both ways. LOL. I have a friend who deletes all of the hookup apps every year on New Year's Eve to focus on actual dating and trying to find a quality relationship over a hot hookup. It's hard not to be on the apps or on the lookout all the time for a fun, quick romp. But sometimes that does take up all our sexy time and we forget that actual dates and connections can happen. Maybe try cutting back. There's also the other camp that needs to get out there and have fun and not be so serious. One-night stands can be fun from time to time, enjoy your sexuality.

Politics

It's not cute to be uneducated about politics. Heading into the next political administration, we can't afford to be clueless as to what is going on in politics, both on a national and at a local level. We need to know the facts, and the issues, and get involved so that we don't find ourselves stripped of our rights. There are so many resources to get educated. You don't need to be a political scholar, but at least know the basics. There's no excuse anymore.

Volunteer

This one is such a positive New Year's resolution, I just love it. With everything going on, we can easily get into our own bubble and forget about our community in need around us. Add some volunteer time to your calendar and stick to it. Research some of the local non-profits that speak to you and get involved. Not only will you be doing your community well, it will fill you with positive energy and you'll meet some good people.

Be Bold

Above all this year, be bold. We are heading into an era when we will be told to keep our heads down and keep quiet. Eff that. Be bold in everything you do. Want that promotion? Ask for it. Want to ask that guy out on a date? Just do it. Want to tell your boyfriend to finally start bottoming? Do it. Want to wear white after Labor Day, do it! Don't waste any time this year.
