What To Do When Your Throuple Breaks Up: Chad Speaks

Hey Sexies, it's Chad! You know how I love giving out my weekly dating and sex advice, though I'm no expert I have certainly been around the block in all kinds of scenarios. I've recently gotten many questions about throuples - getting into a throuple, how to date while in a throuple, and now, what to do when your group breaks up. What's harder than dating one gay guy? Dating two! Throuples are not just about hot sex with two guys, it isn't just having a threesome. Being in a triangle of a relationship comes with all the usual dating issues, you just have an added person to deal with. Yes, your butt can get tired from two guys trying to get at it, but dealing with life issues with two gays can also be tiring. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of benefits - twice the love, twice the attention, twice the cuddles. So what's a gay to do when the two guys you are in a relationship want to break up with each other?

You have fallen in love with both of them, but now your little trio is disbanding. It's like asking a parent who their favorite kid is. Do you choose one guy over the other? Does one guy make you happier, make you feel more connected? Are they asking you to choose? Chances are, once your throuple is disbanded, they don't want you still dating them both. There's also a chance that you like the trio, but dating one of them one one-on-one doesn't do it for you. You have to take stock and look at your past, present, and future and see which one plays a bigger part. If you all live together, that makes it even trickier. You may just look at the situation and decide that staying on your own for a bit is the best answer. Clear your head, remind yourself who you were before the throuple, and take a breath. You don't have to jump into any new situation right away. Maybe you try going back to square one and dating them like it's a new relationship.

Above all, don't get involved in their breakup. If they decide they aren't into each other anymore, there can be drama, hurt feelings, and even aggression. Try to remain open and be a good listener. You don't need to save their relationship and you don't need to get involved by taking sides. There was love once, it might always be there, but might look and feel different. Also, be vocal about your wishes. How do you want to move forward? Tell them your wants as this breakup does affect you as well.

If you are entering into a throuple, it is best to communicate about everything up front before getting involved. This also includes an exit plan in the case of a breakup, especially if you are all moving together, sharing finances, and sharing family and friend circles. Life happens, sometimes we just fall out of love or our life takes a different direction. Remember the love that you did share, and respect and honor it.
