Derek Kage Chats Straight for Pay Pt. 2

Welcome to Part 2 of our chat with gay adult superstar Derek Kage. As a mover and shaker and fan favorite in the biz, he has firsthand knowledge of what is happening in the adult industry. This last year, Derek engaged in creating some hot content with Sophia Locke. Some of his fans took umbrage with his filming with a woman, questioning his sexuality. While we have gotten used to gay for pay, with big names like Johnny Rapid and Reese Rideout, straight for pay is now a hot topic in the industry and with porn fans. In the first part of our chat with Derek, he talked about his experience with filming with co-stars who are gay for pay as well as his fans' reaction to his straight content. In this follow-up, we talk about sexual fluidity, his personal feelings about filming straight content, and his opinion on the future of the adult industry.

What about filming straight and bi content do you enjoy?

I have to say I am one very lucky man that I get to explore my sexuality and have my sexual needs met while also entertaining my fans. As a hypersexual person, I enjoy sex in almost all of its forms—period. I also enjoy the connection between the people involved and bringing whatever pleasure and intimacy I can to the experience.

Would you consider yourself bisexual?

I do not consider myself to be bisexual. I’m going to generally quote a very talented creator named Jonah Wheeler here: bisexual and pansexual are very broad in scope, but they overstate my sexual interest and desire. Gay is the best term for me as it is the most accurate predictor of how I’m going to interact sexually. I am entirely “pay-sexual” when it comes to studio work though.

Some audiences don’t want to see their gay stars filming with members of the opposite sex, what do you say to that group out there?

If you don’t want to see a gay porn star filming with anyone other than cisgender men, then just don’t watch the non-cisgender men's content. If it really turns someone off seeing a gay porn star filming with anyone other than cisgender men, then a creator that is sexually fluid is just not for them—and that is okay. There is plenty of other content that gay porn stars are creating that only involves cisgender men. It’s impossible to appeal to every person and fan with every bit of content we create. I have learned it’s best just to be myself and see where my curiosity and creativity take me. I’m grateful for the fans who stick with me through it all and enjoy seeing the content I create.

In your opinion, are we going to see more sexual fluidity in mainstream porn?

I don’t think we will see more sexual fluidity, per se, but I do think we will see a broader acceptance of it both inside and outside the industry. I think because male performers in general do not get paid as much for heterosexual roles we will not see a large increase in gay male performers taking on those roles. On the reverse side of that coin, I do think we will still see straight male performers taking on gay roles as those roles pay more to male performers.

What else are you looking to try in the future to add to your diverse content?

It is very difficult to say what I could add to my diverse content as far as sex and porn content goes. I’ve practically done it all and have proven myself to be a talented performer in any scenario. I’ve worked with almost every studio in the gay porn industry and have begun performing with trans, bi, and straight studios. I have been preparing my other social media platforms to show off my other interests and talents, especially when it comes to cooking/entertaining/modeling (Instagram) and voice acting (TikTok).

What is your message to your fans?

I would love to tell my fans that I am so grateful and thankful to them for many reasons. I am grateful for their support that allows me to live my life authentically and on my own terms. I am thankful that they are respectful of me and my boundaries. I plan on being in the adult industry for many years and I’m happy they support me wherever my creativity takes me.
