The MTV VMAs Red Carpet Looks and Our Sassy Take

The MTV VMAs have always been a celebration of the most outlandish looks and performances from the music industry. This year's awards ceremony was delayed a day to make room for the presidential debate, that was enough of a spectacle for one night. This year's ceremony took place at the UBS Arena in New York and we certainly got some looks, honey. Here are some of the standouts that we just had to comment on.

Lil Nas X

Showing us just enough crack to get past Grindr, Lil Nas X drew from Power Rangers meets glam for this look. With painted nails and jewels glued to his face, in bold pink and white, he continues to challenge the norms of what masculine and feminine can look like on the red carpet. Yes, it is a bold choice and the VMAs are known for bold choices, but this is a bit cartoony for us. When does silly supersede fashion? At the end of the day, he doesn't give a hoot what anyone says, but this seems just a little basic to us.

Raúl Alejandro

Ok, Alejandro killed it on the red carpet and in his live VMA performance. He mixes modern flair and cuts with sleek and classic black. This look is so sexy. We love the double-breasted look, a throwback to classic Hollywood while his hair and jewelry were on point. Yassss!

Lenny Kravitz

Lenny kept in sleek, also in black, and understated with just enough flair to make it fashion for the VMAs. We did the shirtless but with tie look. This is his typical style and it works for him. We also don't mind the tight pants.

Just because you are a bigger guy, doesn't mean you have to dress like crap. Its the VMAs for heaven's sake! These guys look like they ordered something last minute from Shein.

Hot damn, Damiano is a fashion god. Just look how he makes dapper look so sexy and modern. We love the cut, we love his swag, and we love a bit of classic Hollywood. Our only quibble, we would have loved to see a flasher tie, some bangles and jewelry to really jazz it up. This is more sexy Sunday brunch rather than the VMAs.

Again, these sleek and simple lines with classic black always work. He looks so good. If he wanted to mix it up, maybe a big flashy brooch or something for a dash of glam.

We expected just a bit more glam from Post Malone, but this look is totally him. A darker pair of jeans may have been more appropriate for the VMAs, but this cut and color of jeans showed us a lot of bulge. Nom nom nom.

Benson Boone

Benson Boone is fulfilling all of our twunk fantasies. This black lace that shows us just the right amount of skin is gorgeous. And those curls...girl!
