Gay Russian Adult Content Creator Used to Entrap Men

It's not like we had any plans to visit Russia anytime soon, but gay men, if you plan to, be very, very careful. If you go, jerk off 100 times before you leave or do something so you don't feel the need to hookup. This Queer Around the World edition is insane. At least two men have been coerced into sexual schemes to entrap other gay men by authorities in the Russian Republic of Dagestan. The Latvia-based independent Russian media outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe has been reporting it all. This is insane!

Matvey Volodin is a gay adult content creator based out of Moscow using the handle USSRBoy. His content is pretty graphic and he hasn't been afraid to post it. In May he went to vacation in Dagestan as well as film content. According to Novaya Gazeta Europe, Volodin was lured to a location by undercover Russian police who posed as his fans. Upon arrival, he was beaten, and arrested, and his phone was taken from him. Here's where it gets really bad.

He was taken into custody and was told he would not be released unless he helped the authorities entrap other gay men. They set up an apartment and made Volodin log on to his social media and Hornet (gay dating app) to message men to convince them to come over. The insane part? The authorities made Volodin go through with it and filmed his encounters with the lured men. All men were arrested.

After working with the authorities, Volodin was booked on hooligan charges and released. Immediately upon being released, he was arrested again for distributing pornography and place back into custody. It has been reported that Volodin, who is HIV+, has been denied his anti-viral meds.

Another man was arrested because his contact info had been found on the phone of one of the victims of the Volodin sting operation. This man said he never heard of Volodin but was told by police they would pay him if he would help entrap other men, just like the Volodin operation. His agreement to do so would be filmed and would allow authorities to release him. Upon release, this man worked with a crisis group and immediately fled Russia.

These authorities are crafty. Using gay men to out gay men, using our own community against us using torture tactics. This is so ugly and just feeds into the anti-LGBTQ sentiment inspired by the nation's leader. The queer community has lost rights as it is, and now they face jail and torture. We can only imagine how these types of tactics will spread, especially as governments start issuing anti-LGBTQ laws. And we wonder why this next election is so important.
