For those of us from a younger generation, coming out as bisexual was really only considered a soft coming out to being fully gay. Now we know being bisexual is real and is now being talked about openly in society and entertainment. You go, bisexuals!

This August 31st, at The University of West London, Bi Pride UK will hold its 6th mega-bi Pride, with panels, musical performances, and booths. This is the biggest bi-event on the globe. Bi Pride UK was put into place in 2019 to offer a safe space for fellowship and community building. Not merely wanting to be added as a letter, or have a one-off event from other Prides, this is geared for those who identify and celebrate as bi. According to their mission statement: "We believe that people who experience attraction beyond gender deserve to be able to celebrate their identities publicly, visibly and proudly in all spaces without fear of ridicule, erasure or harassment."

Here in the US, Pew Research Center shared that more Americans identify as bisexual, than gay or lesbian. 12% of America's youth (ages 18 - 29) identify as bisexual. Even though more identify as bisexual, they are more likely to remain in the closet regarding their sexuality than gay or lesbian. Only 19% of those who identify as bisexual say all or most of the important people in their lives are aware of their sexual orientation. By comparison, 75% of gay or lesbian adults say the same. About one-quarter of bisexual adults (26%) say they are not “out” to any of the important people in their lives, compared with 4% of gay or lesbian adults.
