Priscilla Queen of the Desert Sequel, Scorsese does Jesus, Family Guy Film, & More!

I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little tipsy. Ok here’s today’s MOVIE NEWS MONDAY as I see it!

The gays are freaking out! A Priscilla Queen of the Desert sequel is in development, 30 years later with the original cast! This is glitter-worthy news, that movie is a part of iconic gay movie history. Let’s hope Guy Pearce still looks hot in undies.

The Family Guy movie has been in development for 15 years, but Seth MacFarlane recently stated that the movie is still on its way, he’s just been super busy with  The Orville, Ted, and The Cleveland Show. But he assures us that yes, it is still on the horizon!

Steven Spielberg is back at work and his next film will be a UFO film! This is based on an original idea from Speilberg’s genius filmmaker brain. We nailed it with his other sci-films Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds.

More details about Furiosa are coming out. Furiousa is the prequel to the Mad Max reboot that was so fetch! The film will have plenty of action and reportedly, a 15-minute action sequence took 78 days to film with 200 stunt people. We can’t wait! Also, Chris Hemsworth as the villain? Sweaty and shirtless? Nom nom nom.

Some Disney ride films have done well, like Jungle Cruise and Pirates. And then there’s Haunted Mansion – all those tries have been TERRIBLE, then there was Mission to Mars and Country Bears. Well, writers have been booked to write the script for a Space Mountain movie.

Can Taylor Swift take a day off? Not to offend any of you gay Swifties out there, but we may be on Taylor overload. Apparently, she will be part of the MCU and make an appearance in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine as Dazzler. Rumors have been swirling and have gone unrefuted, and fans are pointing to her “dazzling” lyric in her just-released The Tortured Poets Department album. Sigh.

Is Whoopi Goldberg coming to the JJ Abrams Star Trek universe for Star Trek 4 (the Chris Pine version)? She and Zoe Saldana had an interesting exchange on The View and it pretty much seemed like they were talking about her coming to this version of Trek after playing Guinan in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Picard, and two of the Star Trek movies. Maybe the cat’s out of the bag! Whoopi would follow Leonard Nimoy for bridging the two Star Trek universes.

Keanu Reeves has joined Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Shadow. He’s been quite the busy stud! We are still waiting for Constantine 2.

What’s happening with Quentin Tarantino? Tarantino’s final film before retirement, The Movie Critic, was set to shoot in a few months. Now, he’s scrapped it all. So what will his 10th film be as his Hollywood farewell? Now, no one knows!

Actor Rebecca Ferguson (Dune) revealed why she wanted to be killed after three films in the Mission: Impossible world. She said her character was being reduced to being a team player and there was a lot of time on the sidelines, waiting in her trailer. Also, there wasn’t always such a clear path for each film. She’s definitely made a splash in the Dune films and other projects, I’m sure she’s more than ok.

Two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney can handle it with style. A female producer’s comments about her being a bad actor and unwatchable came to the surface. Sweeney made a simple statement saying the comments were “sad” and “shameful” and called out the need for women to support women in the industry. Besides Madame Web, we stan Sweeney!

In other Hollywood ragging on Hollywood news, Brian Cox (Succession) called Joaquin Phoenix “terrible” and “whacky” in Ridley Scott’s Napoleon. Phoenix is probably too busy getting ready for the mega-movie Joker 2 to care.

Martin Scorsese is self-financing his film about Jesus’ life and teaching, starting filming later this year. It will be called The Life of Jesus and will be filmed in Israel, Egypt, and Italy. Scorsese states that he wants to use Andrew Garfield in the film. A white Jesus? Doesn’t Martin watch the History Channel?
