We know that our gay relationship with Florida is iffy, with all the laws happening and it being declared an unsafe place for LGBTQ to travel. If it wasn't for the Golden Girls and Spring Break reminding us how hot the boys in Miami Beach are, we'd probably just go to Greece. Well, if you had any plans to visit this month, think again.

According to the city's official website, Miami Beach is officially "breaking up" with Spring Break and instituting ridiculous restrictions from March March 7-10 and March 14-17, Spring Break's most popular dates. "Expect curfews, security searches and bag checks at beach access points, early beach entrance closures, DUI checkpoints, bumper-to-bumper traffic, road closures and arrests for drug possession and violence."

They even made a video about it.

Among these restrictions is the closing of all parking garages during those dates. Outside of those dates, there will be a flat fee of $30 to use the garages. Towing rates will double to $516, with a $30 admin fee. Think you can take an Uber? Restrictions on beach entry points will also be in place, with only three streets providing access with security points ready to check if you have any "coolers, inflatable devices, tents, tables, and similar objects," you know, the stuff you need to make it a party. Also, no amplified music of any kind on the beach. There will also be no sidewalk seating. Oh, also these entry points will close at 6 pm. Want to keep the party going and grab some booze at the local liquor store? Better hurry, they will be closing at 8 pm. Oh, and don't think about hanging out at the bars, there's a curfew in place too. As per Miami Beach law, there are never any Airbnb rentals.

In response, the Mayor of Ft Lauderdale told USA Today that the city is welcoming Spring Breakers with open arms. Even though they had major issues with Springs Break in the 70s and 80s. Can you imagine what a circus that will be?

Why is all this happening? Mostly to do with the two shootings injuring five people in 2022, and the Miami Beach Police Department said last year it conducted 488 arrests, impounded 105 firearms, and issued 7,190 traffic citations between Feb. 27 and March 27. This year they don't want that aggravation or risk.
