Fleshlinks: Gay Pop Culture News about Football, Glee, Awards, & More

FLESHLINKS GAY

Gay pop culture and porn

It's a new week and my head is spinning from all these great pop culture headlines. It's like a hit of poppers for the soul. This week, we are chatting about hunky football players, Broadway gossip, award show winners, and a Glee reboot.

Broadway Wants a Prince & A Gypsy

The late music legend Prince is the latest star to have his music turned into a Broadway musical. News just broke from Broadway that there will be a new musical adaptation of Prince's film and album, Purple Rain. The show will make its world premiere "soon." Purple Rain on stage will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with music and lyrics by Prince and direction by Tony Award-nominee Lileana Blain-Cruz. Another show Broadway worth getting pumped about is a 2025 Gypsy revival with Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as Rose. Theatre gays have been wanting this for some time, so if it happens, it will be epic!

James Corden Is a Gleek?

A tweet went viral last week dropping news that Glee was in talks to be rebooted with Tony winner and talk show host James Corden as the new teacher heading up the club. This may just be a rumor. No one in either Corden camp or the Glee camp have confirmed this, but my goodness the horrors. Not only more Glee but also Glee with James Corden? No thank you! Just bring back Lea Michele or Darren Criss at that point. No need for Cats Musical star James Corden to get all up in it.

The Gays Are Drooling Over...Football

Another tweet going viral in 2024 is an old photo of Cleveland Browns quarterback Jeff Driskel bulging with all that booty. The photo is about 10 years old from his time playing college football, but my god, that bubble butt is truly timeless. I'm about to Taylor Swift this man.

Mark Ruffalo's Queer Kiss Won the Golden Globes

Last night was the Golden Globes, a big, messy awards show honoring the best in TV and films. Big winners from the night included Oppenheimer, Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Emma Stone, Succession, Billie Eilish, The Bear, and The Holdovers. In gay news, Mark Ruffalo nearly broke the internet when he kissed his director after their movie Poor Things beat Barbie in a big Best Picture Musical or Comedy upset!

RuPaul Makes Emmy History

Another awards show making headlines is the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. It's like the preshow for the Emmys where they hand out awards the industry cares about but may not be sexy enough for the big broadcast. For the 8th consecutive year, RuPaul won the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program as the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This latest win makes RuPaul the most-awarded host in Emmys history and they hold the record for most wins by a person of color. Get it, Mama!
