After a 2-year hiatus, queer, cubby rapper, hailing from Queens, Bryce Quartz drops his new track, “Sodomite,” just in time for Thanksgiving. The track features Norwegian bear rapper Big Daddy Karsten and the companion music video was filmed, live, on stage and backstage at Oslo Pride this past summer.
“Sodomite” pays homage to the Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah and changes the narrative reclaiming a story that has been used to persecute our community. Celebrating sex positivity, the song includes daddies, bears, gay dating apps, Twitter XXX content, and multiple sexual partners…all to a hip hop beat. The message of the song is visceral…being sexually active in the gay community is part of our queer history as well as part of our modern life. We shouldn’t be shying away from an element that makes us who we are. Sex it up!
About Bryce Quartz:
Bryce Quartz is a queer, cubby rapper currently based in Queens, NY. He’s worked with RPDR alum Brita Filter and Aja, charted on the iTunes Hip Hop, Pop, and All Genres charts, and has amassed a niche following from his TikTok fan base for his unapologetically raunchy lyrics. His hit single from 2021 “Goodmorningbq!” has amassed over a million views across all platforms and garnered attention from dozens of online internet celebrities such as Mikey Angelo (@mrgrandeofficial), Tris (@goodvibestris), Nathan Piland (@nathanpiland), and Camo Camille (@camocamille).
About Big Daddy Karsten:
After making a name for himself as a rapper in the early 2010s, Big Daddy Karsten came out of the closet in 2016 making national Norwegian headlines for being the first openly gay rapper from his country. Since then, Karsten has released his debut studio album in Norwegian along with several singles and EPs as well. In 2020, Karsten started releasing music in English to reach a broader audience, and went on to perform in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix for Eurovision with his hit single “Smile.” His music covers a variety of topics including sex-positive messages, women empowerment, body positivity, and even inspirational coverage of the LGBTQ+ hate crime terror attack on London Pub in 2022 with his song “25 juni.”
Big Daddy Karsten says: “Sodomite is a banger, and I knew it could be the first time I heard the demo for it. My verse just kinda fell out of me, and that's not often when I get as technical with my writing as I did on this one. I'm so hyped that Bryce is finally dropping new music, he's grown immensely since the last time he released something that's his, and I'm excited to be a part of it.”
Bryce says: “Going to Oslo this past pride season was monumental for me as an artist and as an openly queer individual. I walked in my first pride parade and got to perform in front of thousands of people. Although I was a bit nervous to perform in front of the biggest crowds yet in my career, everything fell into place once I hit the stage and it just felt natural. Karsten and I rehearsed for over 8 hours before all of our performances, making me feel even more comfortable about our sets.
Filming the music video for 'Sodomite' on stage and backstage was definitely a highlight too, with Karsten and I knocking out each take with ease. It definitely boosted my confidence upon returning home to release all this music I’ve worked so hard on perfecting the last 2 years and prepared me for my releases across the next year. I’m extremely proud of and excited to release “Sodomite” as the lead single from my debut studio EP The Sextape, along with the other two singles 'Cum Pirate' and 'Daddy Dick' that will also have music videos upon release in 2024.”
The track drops on November 22nd. To pre-save the track, click here.
