They say "the perfect job" doesn't exist. But if you're a Taylor Swift fan with a penchant for music journalism then do we have some good news for you! USA Today is currently looking to hire a new reporter whose sole beat is covering Taylor Swift.

In a job listing the publication posted recently, they write that they're "seeking an experienced, video-forward journalist to capture the music and cultural impact of Taylor Swift." The job will be a partnership between USA Today and The Tennessean, both of whom are owned by parent company Gannett, the largest newspaper chain in the United States.

The posting explains that the company is creating the role because of Swift's rising status as a uniquely influential global behemoth. "Swift’s fanbase has grown to unprecedented heights, and so has the significance of her music and growing legacy," it says. "We are looking for an energetic writer, photographer, and social media pro who can quench an undeniable thirst for all things Taylor Swift with a steady stream of content across multiple platforms."

Because Swift is touring the world in her history-making, travel is obviously going to be a big part of the role, with much of it being international. Who doesn't love traveling for work? Especially when the "big conference" is actually the biggest concert on the planet!

With the exception of perhaps Beyoncé, there is almost no artist on the planet who is as big of a star in the industry. She brings with her a fan base so loyal and emboldened by their passion, that not only did they file a class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster for fraud, misrepresentation, and antitrust violations, but their actions led to an investigation by the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights. Lest we forget these are the same fans who are no strangers to altering their bodies to honor TayTay. Fans like gay pornstar Alejo Ospina who got the entire lyrics for the artist's "All Too Well (10 min version) tattooed onto his thigh.

The fans were quick to point out on social media, however, that while it's wonderful that parent company Gannett is creating this position, they're also the same company that just laid off almost 400 employees in 2022. As one user wrote, "After all the local news reporter jobs Gannett cut nationwide this year?? Us swifties know better."

Well, someone is going to get this job, and whoever does will have an endless trove of angles and stories they can pull from, and will get to devote their creative juices to celebrating an artist who is at the height of a career that only seems to be soaring higher and higher with each passing year. Just last week, Swift was honored with "Best Pop Video" for the video to her chart-topping "Anti-Hero."

What do you think? Do you have what it takes not just to be an internationally traveling music journalist, but to be an internationally traveling music journalist... "the Taylor version" (if you know, you know)?
