There's an old joke that you've probably heard some version of by now. It goes, "What do lesbians do on their second date? Rent a U-Haul! What do gay men do on their second date? Psh. What second date?" Well, this recent Twitter thread has gone viral for proving that that joke isn't always the case. Long-term Queer couples from around the world shared their stories and
what made their Couple Goals™ such successes.
Specifically, the original tweet asked, "Do you know any queer people who have been together for 10 years?" What ensued was over 32.4 million views, and thousands of responses and retweets. The age range and arrangements were as diverse as the people who make up these couples, and since this Pride Month we want to lean in to as much joy as possible, this viral trend is one we want to get behind! Or in front of. Or switch it up? Honestly, whatever makes this relationship a long-term one is good by me! Here are some of our favorite of the tweets:
The 10-Year Mark
Love you, goob! @micarebear1

The requirement to get into the Queer LTR viral thread club is to hit the 10-year mark. And these two besties of 23 years have officially hit the 10-year mark as a couple.

Once you hit the 10-year mark, though, hopefully, you keep going! And these bear zaddies have been together 12 years! Woof!
A Decade-and-a-Half

Coming in strong at a full 15 years is this beautiful duo. From across the pond, these Londoners aren’t quite at “the better part of the last 20 years!” category, but damnit they’re on their way!
Over 15!

16 years together and these two look so damn gorgeous and happy in their wedding pic it’s ridiculous. Raising a glass and saying Queers! Excuse me… Cheers!
Amateurs. ALL OF YOU!
Yes! We are one of those queer pairs, too! Brad and me are on year 27 and married for the last 7 of those years!! Life has been good. pic.twitter.com/ZGrR80XV76

Then there are some couples that have been together for way longer than that. And these two fellas have been together for almost 30 years! Gawdamn!
Then… There Are the OGs
It will be 48 years in July. pic.twitter.com/X7VXd93Dgs

It’s fitting that once they complete the month of June, these two studs will be at 48 years together! Almost half a century of love and they’re proof that it CAN happen.
The G in LGBTQ+ Stands for Grandmothers!

So much Pride going on here, but one of the proudest is the Twitter user who Tweeted that their “grandmothers have been together since the '70s.”
