Not only is he a gorgeous go-go dancer, but Elias Velasco is also a fierce makeup artist. Go-Go name:

It’s just my actual name… Elias.

How did you get your name?

I spent some time thinking of one and nothing sounded authentic… I don’t want something that sounds forced or too intentional. I am me, my given name. I’ma just roll with it.

When did you start go-go dancing and what got you into it?

I actually just got my feet wet with it less than a year ago back in August. My roommate Josh is a go-go dancer/bartender/host (you might know him as JFlo). He throws his own party called Otter Pop at Silverlake Lounge and I told him I would want to try go-going. He would ask me if I was ready when it was time for him to book and I kept backing out because I was nervous and also didn’t feel physically at my best. But I finally went through with it and it was so much fun.

Favorite styles of music and artists to dance to?

I love all kinds of music but I think anything that is mid to up-tempo I can really just get lost with and groove to. Tribal/house or a fusion of dance/electronic and R&B is sexy and makes me move.

Venues & parties you dance at:

I got my start at Otter Pop at Silverlake Lounge. Then got asked to do BarBearians at Micky’s. I’ve also danced for VPL at Precinct in DTLA… And there’s another spot in the works.

Favorite thing to wear while dancing?

I like a good harness jock/thong combo… anything that accentuates different parts of the body.

Favorite part of your body?

Hmmm… It would probably be my legs/butt… They’ve got some fuzz and people seem to like them a lot.

What's your signature dance move?

I don’t know if I’ve developed one just yet but I love to roll my hips.

Hasn’t happened… yet.

Biggest pet peeve when people are tipping you?

Well… I’m still pretty new to all this and luckily almost all the tippers have been respectful so far. There was one guy who was completely plastered and wobbling and waving a $1 bill around for a while in front of me like I was supposed to do a halftime performance for him. Like dude, “just stuff the dollar and eat some bread or something”

Biggest pet peeve about working with other go-go boys?

I’m so new that I haven’t encountered anything from other dancers that peeve me yet. The only thing I could think of that would peeve me is a big ego or not being friendly and saying hi when meeting/working for the first time.

What advice would you give to a new go-go dancer?

The sexiest thing you could wear is a smile. It makes people feel like you’re approachable so look like you’re having fun and people will buy into it. It’s all about energy, people are out to have a good time with you.

Favorite thing about being a go-go boy?

I love to dance, so that’s #1. I’m an introvert/extrovert so it makes me be more outgoing when I’m probably more comfortable in my own surroundings. Plus you never know who you’re gonna meet so it can be great networking for many things.

What do you like to do when you’re not go-go dancing?

I’m gonna be cliche and say I like going to the gym. It wasn’t always like that for me. But now I feel like I know what I’m doing and I feel my most confident self at this age. I also love to make time for my peeps to catch up and dine at favorite and new restaurants.

What do you love about the city you live in?

I love the diversity of LA. You’ve got people from all over the world that come to live and visit and it just exposes you to newness and lots of different cultures.

Hobbies:

Well, one that ties into what I also do for work is makeup. I’m a makeup artist and I love making people feel like their best selves and giving them a boost of confidence.

Your hidden talent:

I think I have an innate talent for music. I haven’t had formal training but as a kid, I would play music by ear. During quarantine, I played around with music apps and made some good-sounding beat samples. I would like to nurture and cultivate that talent cause I think I would be really good at making sexy dancy beats.

I’m not much into the whole “gotta make this extra special” situations that come with going on dates. I’m not easily impressed, to be honest. I wanna just have good food, and do something fun and engaging where we can have authentic back-and-forth conversations. If I can walk away feeling like I got a good sense of who you are as a person, then mission accomplished.

Jonathan Bailey… Oof! Those cute ears and smile just make me melt.
