We have lusted after porn legend Matthew Rush for decades now.

We've all often wondered what goes into making Matthew (and all these fucking hot men) so fucking hot.

What do these guys eat? How much do they work out?

Matthew Rush's story is a particularly captivating one because, in addition to being one of the hottest men alive, he has also dealt with some very serious health struggles.

It was only through hard work, both physically and mentally, that Matthew came back to a state of great health (and looking hot as ever!).

Matthew Rush generously shared with Fleshbot some of his fitness journeys and offered some advice to his devoted fans.

Have you been into physical fitness your whole life? Give us a little history of your fitness journey.

My fitness journey started when I was a senior in HS. My neighbor took me to the gym for the first time and I remember thinking how cool it was. After a few weeks, I saw my body changing and I was hooked.

You have been terribly honest about your health struggles in the past. Could you share with us how you believe that happened and the toll it took on your physical and mental health?

I was having issues with my prostate. I was suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia, which caused me to not be able to pee. I had to wear a catheter for a week to be able to pee. Unfortunately, when the catheter was put in, I got an infection that went septic. After the catheter was removed, I wasn't feeling well. I was running a high fever and I thought I had the flu. I walked out of my bedroom one night and when I opened the door, I was floating in the most brilliant and beautiful white light. There was no sense of time. It was peaceful and I felt an enormous wave of love. I remember thinking to myself, "Is this Heaven?" A voice said, "Not yet," and I was back in my room. The next day, while driving to a doctor's appointment, I blacked out and wrecked my car. The infection had reached my bloodstream causing me to pass out. I spent two months in the hospital at the height of Covid. No visitors, just me and the nurses and doctor that took care of me. I had a lot of time to reflect on what happened. Did I die? I don't know. I was told by the doctors that the infection was so bad that they weren't sure how I was alive.

How did you start getting healthy again? What did you do?

Once the infection cleared, I got back into the gym. I focused on putting weight back on because I went from 220 pounds down to 169 pounds. They say you only live once. That's not true. You live every day and you only die once. Though there are those people that are the exception to the rule, who have died but it wasn't their time. In my heart, I believe I was one of them.

How long has it taken you to get back into such great physical and mental shape?

It has taken me almost two years to get to where I am now physically. Mentally it was a kick in the spiritual nut sack. A good kick nonetheless. There is something greater at play. God, our creator, Source, the Universe, however, you identify, if you identify is real. It gave me faith in something when I needed it the most.

What is your workout routine?

I work out 3-4 times a week. Nothing special.  Just getting my butt to the gym. I meditate and every morning I do a ritual of gratitude and say thank you to my guides and angels who are with me on my journey.

What is your diet like?

Everything is in moderation. Yeah, I try to eat healthily and make healthy choices but I allow myself a cheat meal or two during the week.

Do you follow an off/on-season diet and workout plan or are you more of a maintainer?

I did that when I competed.  Now I do it to just maintain.

Do you have a skincare and/or grooming routine?

I'm a gay man; I have my lotions and potions, LOL. I keep it simple, I drink plenty of water and moisturize.

You have been very open about how important your mental and emotional health is. How does that factor into your whole regiment? Do you do anything specific?

My happiness and my mental health are very important! Happiness is a choice. I try not to let little things disrupt my happiness. If I can't remove the negative, I remove myself. Daily meditation and my ritual of gratitude each morning keep my positive mindset.

How do you think physical and mental health go together?

It's about balance. If one is off it affects the other.

What other advice do you have for your fans and for anybody seeking to better their physical and mental selves?

When you feel good mentally and physically, it raises your vibration. When you look and feel good about yourself,  you manifest the best things life can offer.
