Prolific porn director and fetish performer Dominic Pacifico brings his award-winning talents to KinkMen.com. This past summer, Dominic completed over 40 scenes for KinkMen, including Devin Franco's debut in a pup play scene with Devin Franco as Cazden Hunter's handler. Since joining KinkMen, some of Dominic's popular titles include Pain Puppet and the pup flick Howlin' for a Poundin'. He also collaborated with Micah Martinez on a full-length movie, American Sicko, a porn parody of the movie American Psycho. Fleshbot caught up with Dominic to chat about his work with KinkMen, why people are kinkier since the pandemic, the rules of taking massive toys, and what it's like on a fetish film set.
How did you first get into the fetish community?
I've been fascinated with fetish since I was a teenage goth. Once I was old enough, I started shopping at adult stores and asking questions about everything. I found Tom of Finland art to be fascinating and extremely erotic. Latex and plastic were my first true fetish interests. Moving to San Francisco in 1998 changed everything. I looked forward to Folsom Fair every year.
How is a set for a fetish or kink shoot different from a typical porn shoot?
On a fetish set, there is more preparation and discussion about the health and safety of the production. We make sure everything is consensual, and everyone is safe and willing. It's important to be knowledgeable about the fetish we do. It's not normal sex, people can get hurt, so we are more transparent and take things slowly. A typical porn shoot will have its details and dialog, but mostly it is straight to the point sex.
How is casting different for kink videos than a mainstream gay scene?
Casting for a kink video is focused on who is physically willing and able to perform first. Then it's stylized to the choice of the producers and directors to give it vision. Kink work is not for everyone. You have to be interested or love it as it's a lifestyle.
What has your process been like working with KinkMen? Do you come up with the videos from concept to edit?
Working with KinkMen has a specific style, structure and look. I come up with concepts from start to final edit. My personal crew has over 10 years of experience working with the top gay studios in the world. I pride myself from learning what I know from being cast as a Sub for over 10 years and a Dom for over 7 years. I have a hands-on learned directing style from in house kink director Van Dar Holme and former directors FiveStar, and Sebastian Keys. With that said, my approach is to keep a specific look and feel to all of my work. I’m not mimicking their work but I give the members and viewers a production that is 100% comparable to the classic kink style.
What excites you most about putting your spin on American Psycho for KinkMen's upcoming American Sicko? How did you balance the sex with the horror?
Hahaha, well, my co-director Micah Martinez and I are horror buffs. It was an easy overlap with fetish and fear. I personally believe our spin is more sexy than horrifying. It's not supposed to be gore or comedy. It has a bit of seriousness to it. The next feature film will be much darker.
You've been in the industry since you're 18. What do you miss about when you started and what do you love most about it now?
When I started in the industry, the focus for our final production was print and DVD. We put a lot more focus on photography and preproduction details for print. I know some studios still have photography. It's just that now things move so much faster. I miss a slower paced process. It felt more glamourous. Now I love that I'm able to have to creative control to focus on the details that make the models look their best. I love that the industry is more refined and that now it's not as taboo to be a sex worker. The world has changed and the adult industry has integrated more into mainstream media than ever.
How has being a porn star influenced the way you direct?
I would have never become a porn director if it wasn’t for over 20 years of experience as a performer. I pride myself on knowing what the performers' experience feels like. This influences my approach to directing 100%. I love my models and want to make sure they have an enjoyable experience. I try to be as patient and understanding with their needs as possible. I do everything I can to make them look the best.
How are DJing and directing related to you?
Being a pornstar and DJ go hand in hand to me. I'm an entrainer and bring people joy. Producing music and producing adult media is the beautiful evolution of my work. I'm not doing much anymore, because my focus is to produce videos and music full time. Eventually, even more music videos as well.
What kinks and fetishes are you most into exploring off camera?
Off camera I have been exploring anal pumps, extreme ball weights (CBT), master/slave role play, bisexual play, and sniff & smell fetish.
You've done so much on camera, on Twitter, is there anything that's off limits for you?
Anything not legal is off limits. I won’t do public civilian play. I personally do not like to be humiliated, ever.
What are three pieces of advice you'd give to someone who wants to take massive toys the way you do on Twitter?
My advice is to go slowly and start with small toys and move up with time. Never go cheap on lube so you don’t tear or rip anything. Also, clean clean clean—make sure you clean your toys and keep them sanitary. If your toys are massive, they need to be very clean! Follow the care instructions. If toys are made with different types of plastic and/or silicone, the need to be washed differently.
Do you feel like people are getting more kinky since the pandemic? Has there been a shift in the fetish scene as it becomes more mainstream?
Yes! The fetish world got a lot of exposure with the pandemic guys had more time to spend on their phones and social media. The fetish and leather scene in gay culture, in particular, has seen an explosion. Daddy culture, too. Everyone’s looking for a daddy in 2023.
