Former MLB Player TJ House Comes Out / Announces Engagement

In a response to the marriage equality legislation passed last week, former MLB pitcher TJ House posted a long and deeply personal message on Facebook about love, marriage, sexuality, and his personal journey with all three. Not only did he come out in this post, but he also announced that he's engaged!

The former pitcher for Toronto and Cleveland teams said, "Even with all the money, fancy cars, nice clothes and a little tiny bit of fame, I would go home every night wishing I could change. Deep down I wanted something more, I wanted to be loved not for what I did, but who I was.”

The passage of the Respect for Marriage Act gave him the push he needed to claim his happiness. “Today’s passage of the Respect for Marriage Act protects us to have the same rights and opportunities that each of you have," he wrote. “It allows Ryan Neitzel and I to come together and create something beautiful. It gives me the confidence to get engaged to the person I love (he said Yes!), to marry them. I have a wonderful fiance, who challenges me daily to become a better person. To live life authentically. One who I never deserved but blessed to have. Love you see, it’s for everyone."

Congrats to TJ for claiming his happiness, and congrats to the happy couple! Now time for all the pitcher/catcher jokes. Which hot athlete do you hope comes out next? I've got my eyes on you Jason Kelce (wishful thinking, but woof).
