Where Are They Now: Matt Summers on a Brief But Wild Ride in Porn and a Happy Family Life Today

Some porn stars, most of them really, are only in this business for a short time. Maybe two or three years and then they’re gone. There are a precious few who stay in the business for the long haul and make a career out of it. Then there is an even more select few who despite only a brief time in the business, leave behind an impressive body of work and a devoted fanbase who continues to admire them!

One such performer is Matt Summers. With his lean and strong swimmer's build, inviting stare, and lusty performances, Matt was a favorite of legendary director (and Cybersocket Award nominee) Chi Chi LaRue and became a sensation at Rascal Video.

He joined us for an interview to share how much he enjoyed his time in business and how happy he is today.

Could you share with us your journey from first joining the industry to becoming a star? 
I first met Chi Chi LaRue in Orlando. I was hanging out at the fabled Parliament House and I met someone who worked for Chi Chi. They thought I should meet Chi Chi, who was going to be at the P House later that weekend. I met Chi Chi and was immediately put into my first video, Hand Picked. Following that, I went out to LA and started down the path to being Matt Summers.

Did you work at multiple studios? How does the culture of some compare with others?
I've only ever worked for Chi Chi LaRue at Rascal Video. I was made exclusive to Rascal Video. There was talk of a swap at Falcon, but that didn't materialize. Working for Chi Chi was always a laid-back, yet professional, environment. Chi Chi always tried to put me with other performers I would sync with.

What was your favorite scene and why? 
Easy—Oral Exams, the oral orgy/bukkake scene. Just so much fun, plus working with Chad Hunt is always a delight. And that scene was just bonkers.

Who were some of your favorite fellow performers and why? Still in touch with any? 
Chad Hunt has been and will always be a best friend. Matt Rush and Spike are also great guys I keep in touch with, even though we are all over the country.

Anybody you didn't work with, but wish you had?
That's a strange question to me. I loved working with the guys I did and enjoy watching other guys through the years, but never really thought about working with them. Just enjoying their work!

How do you look back on your time in the business?
I had a great time. I traveled, met some great people, and I think learned a good many aspects of myself that I hadn't before. I began to see myself and my place in the world in a different light. I started with low self-esteem and by the end of my time in the industry, learned that I was attractive both inside and out. I went from, "Are you my daddy?" to "Who's your daddy?"

How are you today? Where are you at in your career and in life?
I am at the best place in my life today. I've married my best friend and confidant and together we adopted 3 kids, two of which are already living on their own. I have been in my current occupation for over ten years. We live a quiet life, with the exception of the chaos the kids tend to bring to it. The gray in my beard is all attributed to raising those kids.

Do you follow the industry today? Do any of today's performers impress you?
I don't really keep track too closely of the industry anymore. So much is done online, and people call themselves "porn stars" when all they've done is a little webcam thing. To me, as Chad Hunt told me, you aren't a real porn STAR until you are on a refrigerator magnet. I myself never graced a refrigerator magnet, so I guess I wasn't a star, but just a performer. As for what I watch, I enjoy some straight porn and gay porn pretty equally.

How do you think the industry today compares to your time in business? 
There were far fewer people in the industry back in my day, and it was much easier to keep track of who was doing what. It seems like there are so many new faces and people coming and going (no pun intended) that it's difficult to try to keep track of everything. But with that comes more variety and isn't that the spice of life?

Would you ever consider a comeback? 
Not likely, at least not in that capacity. I've dabbled in writing so wouldn't mind doing some scripting. I think as a married person, my sexual being is promised to one awesome person, and I've found that guy. I hope everyone gets as lucky as me.
