Golden Guys of the Golden Globes

BREAKING NEWS

We gays don't just get excited for the holidays because of Christmas, Hannukah, and New Years.

It's also because of Awards Season!

This morning at the Beverly Hilton, Rapper Snoop Dog announced the nominees for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Though there is no telecast this year, that doesn't stop us from getting excited about Hollywood's longest and most popular awards show after the Oscars.

Especially during a year like this when we've had so many great movies. Among the leading contenders are Kenneth Branagh's Belfast, Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, and Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog.

For Television, we've got megahits like Ted Lasso and Hacks with multiple nominations.

We’re not just excited for award season because of the wonderful movies we’ve had this year, we're extra excited because of the solid group of hunks who are among this year’s nominees.

Let’s look at some of the Golden Guys of the Golden Globes

Andrew Garfield

This British cutie has had our attention ever since his breakthrough role as Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network back in 2010. That boyish smile and slim build were enough to get our attention, but now we know he’s also a song and dance man!

He is currently nominated as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in tick, tick…Boom! where he plays Jonathan Larson, the creator of the groundbreaking musical “Rent.”

If this guy wasn’t a gay heartthrob before, he certainly is now. He’s also single…

Jamie Dornan

We gays wanted to watch the Fifty Shades series for one reason and one reason only, to see Irish hottie Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, a billionaire with a fetish for BDSM. The films did not disappoint. Jamie shows off his entire ripped bod in the franchise many, many sex scenes.

It also helps things, a little, that Jamie is by all accounts a super nice guy and has now proven himself to be a very solid actor.

He is currently nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in what many are calling the movie of the year, Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, playing the father of a young family effected by the Tumult of 1960s Ireland.

Kenneth Branagh

Though he’s now known as a master filmmaker, Kenneth Branagh first came on the scene in the 1990s as a classical British stage actor who was as handsome as he was talented. Those nude sex scenes he added to his own film version of Hamlet just seemed to make memorizing all those soliloquies in high school so much easier.

Branagh is nominated for both Best Screenplay and Best Director for his semi-autobiographical film, Belfast.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Whether it’s penniless hero Jack in “Titanic” or eccentric playboy Howard Hughes in “The Aviator,” we all have our favorite movies that let us lust for Leo. That ageless face with it’s piercing blue eyes just seems to get better with age. He just needs to come out already…

His latest Golden Globe nomination is for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance as an astronomer trying to warn the world of an approaching comet in Adam McKay’s dark comedy “Don’t Look Up.”

Javier Bardem

One of our favorite Latin Lovers playing another of our favorite Latin Lovers. It doesn’t get much better than that and that’s exactly what we get with Javier Bardem playing Desi Arnaz in Aaron Sorkin’ “Being the Ricardos.” Some have said that Javier isn’t perfectly cast as Desi. Desi was Cuban and Javier is from Spain, and there isn’t exactly a great resemblance between the two.

However they have one very important thing in common, that super sexy way of swinging their hips.

Javier is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama for his performance in “Being the Ricardos.”
