Christopher Abbott Defends His Nudity, George Clooney “Testicle Sequence” In Catch-22

If you were a fan of the HBO series Girls, then you might remember the super adorable Christopher Abbott from the first season. He unexpectedly peaced tf out (later stating "The world that Lena [Dunham] wrote was very real, especially in New York, but it wasn't as relatable for me on a personal level." Aka he hated being around Dunham and needed an out, aka not relatable at all!) and some were worried that Abbott might not land another vehicle that did such a good job of showing off his talent, his acting aura, his essence, his... de-damn-licious bod.

Well worry no more! While the world wasn't watching, Abbott landed a super high-profile role on the Catch-22 miniseries, now streaming on Hulu. The show also features the likes of George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, and Kyle Chandler, but it's Abbott who takes the lead, and it's Abbott that shows off his ass throughout pretty much the whole furking thing. Noooo Catch-22 here. Abbott's nude scenes are so conspicuous that he actually addressed them while chatting with The Wrap:

Being nude in anything couldn’t be more justified than it is for this because it’s such a big part of the book, too. It’s a character thing. So of course I knew going into it that was going to be the case. But, yeah, it doesn’t make it that much more comfortable. It’s also being nude in situations that — if you’re doing a sex scene, you’re meant to be nude and that’s expected, but these are situations that I think are that much more vulnerable because of the state of where the character is.

It isn’t a testicles scene, is it? It’s really a testicles sequence. There is a lot that revolves around that. [Yossarian] actually getting shot in the plane is really scary but also quite funny. And how his testicles are dealt with from there on after is really funny. The shot of George fondling my testicles with a pencil — those weren’t my testicles, those were stunt testicles, little fun fact for you — but it’s hard to keep a straight face and care so much about my nuts.
