British artist Matthew Stradling creates some of the most gorgeous—and most gorgeously over-the-top—artworks based on the naked male form that we've seen: his "Men of Luxuria" series, in which nudes twist and writhe among lush fabrics and jewels, will either strike you as images from a deliriously erotic gay fever dream—something along the lines of "Pink Narcissus" translated to oil and canvas—or the most hopelessly outré type of homo kitsch, depending. Since we here at Fleshbot believe that nothing succeeds like excess, we like Stradling's overwrought style; more literal-minded art fans however, might want to check out his newer work in which nude and/or bloody figures stand in stark relief against simple backgrounds.
