Digital Art by Harald Seiwert: “Inspired … “

As our friends at Nightcharm point out, most museums are pretty gay places already, what with all those naked cupids and humpy Greek statues and the cruisy men's room on the third floor of the Museum of ... er, forget we mentioned that last part. Dutch digital artist Harald Seiwert, however, is on a mission to make the Western artistic canon even gayer with his "Inspired ..." series, in which the artist uses live models to recreate works not only by classic artists like Michaelangelo and Raphael but also updated takes on modern iconography like Andy Warhol paintings and pop music album covers (his take on Roxy Music's"Country Life" is our particular favorite.) But don't think it's all just for shits and giggles or artsy in-jokes: "Important for me is to maintain the mood and color atmosphere of the original painting. I don't want to make a straight-forward copy ... My intention is to give the original masterpiece a new—often funny—twist." Art history geeks that we are, we think a lot of those twists happen to be pretty sexy too.
