These Promotional Photos For Ascension Beach Party Are So, So Gay

The annual Fire Island Beach party starts today. We went to their website and were assaulted by images of hot men frolicking in their underwear and the dulcet tones of the electro-homo national anthem, "When Love Takes Over." So gay.

The Ascension Party is in it's 5th year, although when we first heard of it we thought it was the beginnings of some sort of weird homoerotic/new age political party. We'd love to hear from our East Coast readers who are planning to attend this year or have attended Ascension events in the past, because we cannot tell if we'd actually want to go or not. On the one hand, who wouldn't want to spend one of the last weeks of summer getting drunk with fellow homos, rough housing with ripped speedo-sporting fitness models on the beach, and celebrating the happy death of Prop 8 with all-night orgies? On the other hand, homos, like everyone else, can be mean drunks. Also, fitness models and the people who look like them probably won't be the only ones sporting speedos this weekend. Also, orgies are complicated…all of those elbows…we shudder at the thought.

Yes, we're majorly conflicted, but we're also not attending. Thus, we are content to sit back and enjoy the fantasy conjured by these sexy images. Whether or not Ascension Beach Party will be any fun, we're certain this photo shoot was.
