Director Mark Bessenger's latest film, The Last Straight Man, has a premise straight out of porn, but it's a mainstream film. It deals with a closeted man crushing on his best friend who is about to be married, and following a drunken bachelor party, the two hook up, agreeing to reunite every year in the same hotel room for another chance to explore this hidden side of themselves.
Clean-shaven Mark Cirillo plays the closeted Lewis and bearded Scott Sell plays Cooper, the now-married man who proposes the annual get-togethers. Both men go all out in the film, literally, letting it all hang out. While there's no visible penetration, the film has plenty of explicit sex scenes, including a gaggle of nudity from both actors who hold nothing back. It's an interesting exploration of the torments that certain men subject themselves to by not being honest about who they really are, and while it does cover a lot of the same ground that other mainstream films like Brokeback Mountain explored, it's also got a whole lot more full frontal nudity than that film did. It was just released on DVD last month, and is worth checking out if you're intrigued by the premise.
