The Mr. Gay World Pageant Needs to Shut the Fuck Up

This is Charl van den Berg, he won the Mr. Gay World title last weekend in Oslo. Why is he naked? Oh, he also did a j/o video for Liberate Studios. Now the pageant is all pissy. Oh please!

This is a gay fucking pageant for criminey's sake, who cares if the gorgeous gay winner did a little porn movie under the name of Chad. It doesn't make him any less attractive or fantastic! But they're not kicking him out like Miss America did to Vanessa Williams. No. They're going to "save" him, like the told a South African newspaper.

Sometimes, within the gay scene there are opportunists who identify these men and promise them a better life and freedom within the adult entertainment industry, in which exploitation may result. Our organisation embraces those men that have found the courage to escape the exploitation in an effort to find a better life.

As our friends at The Sword pointed out, this is total bullshit. There is nothing wrong with him because he wanted to make some money pleasing himself in front of the camera. It probably boosted his self-esteem that he would be worthy of such a distinction and made him happy that he caused joy to plenty of men out there who want to watch. What kind of "better life" does he need? It's not like Liberate had him chained up in some naked gay gulag and was forcing him to diddle his noodle at their behest.

He doesn't give a fuck about the video though and good for him.

I did the video in April, way before I thought about entering Mr Gay SA. It helped me financially at the time and I gained good life experience. Porn is an integral part of the gay lifestyle, it's just that most guys don't have the guts to do what I did.

That's right, Charl. You're our new hero, and we love you just the way you are.
